Private Music Lessons

Menchey Music Reading has 8 private lesson studios.  Our lessons studios offer a comfortable waiting room with free wifi for your convenience. At this time we are offering both online and in-person lessons.

Meet our Staff

Jim Benn, Store Manager

Jim has been a member of the Menchey Music team since a 2009 and has been manager of our Reading location since it opened in 2011. When Jim is not helping our customers at the Reading location you will find him songwriting and recording at home. Jim is passionate about music and also enjoys repairing and modifying musical instruments. He loves to fish, cook and hike when he isn’t thinking about music.

Paul Murr, School Service Representative

Paul Murr joined the Menchey Music School Service Team in 2023 after spending over twenty years teaching music in the Lancaster Catholic School system. He is also a faculty member at The Tell School of Music at Millersville University, teaching applied Percussion.

Paul is also an active freelance percussionist. He has a diverse performing and recording career. He is a percussionist with the Allegro Orchestra in Lancaster, PA and as a drum set artist he has worked with Jeffrey Gaines, Jackie Evancho, Fauna Flora, Imitation #9 (Beatles Tribute) and numerous singer songwriters from the Mid-Atlantic region. A proponent of New Music, Paul held the percussion duties with the award winning NakedEye Ensemble through 2017. He holds a BA in Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he studied percussion with Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame member, Dr. Gary Olmstead.
